The 8U Hawks traveled North, via the SOB, to play a much improved Syosset squad.

The Hawks’ bats were silent for most of the game, but the boys never gave up.

In the top of the 6^th inning, with one out, Bergy smacked his second single of the game to spark a rally. Four walks later, the Hawks were within 2 runs of tying the game, but fell to Syosset 5-3.

The defense once again shined.

 In the first inning, the K-Man started a double play, catching a line drive to second and throwing to Stretch, at first, catching the runner from first base off the bag.

In the second, Syosset had the bases loaded and one out. A single was driven to right field, Pete C fielded it cleanly and threw to William P covering second. William P fired home to Zack H who placed the tag on the runner trying to score from second base. The next batter, popped up to William P to end the scoring threat.

In the 5^th inning, with the Hawks down 4-1, Syosset had runners on first and second and two outs. A shot was hit into right field. The throw to second went off line. If not for the backing up of left fielder Harrison K, the runner going from first to second would have advanced to third and quite possibly to home plate.

The loss brings the Hawks’ record back to .500 at 5-5.

The boys are home this Saturday, when they try to start another winning streak.
