Who? What? Huh? What field? Who's getting dinner? Which uniform (is it in the laundry)? Where are we going to be? Glen Cove? East Meadow? Are you sure? What time? I don't see the other cars? What did I forget? Sunscreen? Glove? Kid? What will we feed the kids? Where are the other kids? Who's kid is in my car? ANNNND WE ARE NOT GOING OUT AFTER THE GAME, ok, fine just for a little bit. Second dinner? Please no Friendly's, ugh, fine, get me a double Fribble. What time is it, 11pm? Game tomorrow? Game tomorrow. Game tomorrow!!!!! Don't be late!!!.........WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIT! Wait....STOP! It's over! It's over. Take a breathe....Whew! We made it. Parents, kids, coaches, siblings.....We made it....9 days, 8 games, 7 wins, 1 loss, 32 pizzas, 68 chicken finger meals, 72 ice creams, 87 Tums and a handful of sunburns....but we made it. Crazy softball week comes to a close!
And what a week it was. When the kids arrived at the field yesterday they looked like a major league team that had been on the road for two weeks and just wanted to get home to see the family. Reporters were kept out of the locker room and siblings were snubbed for autographs. Of course, that did not stop them from trouncing Port Washington 26-6. Just another day at office for our 10U softball Hawks.
And really what this week taught us, other than sesame seeds are really good on pizza crust, is that we've got some team. It seems like every day another player was doing something outstanding to help us win. Fielding, hitting, pitching, base running, it's really something special and we could not be prouder parents.
With one game left in Glen Cove before both tourament playoffs begin next weekend, we can all take it easy and relax for a night, reform that spot on your comfy chair, eat a home cooked meal, give hug to the otehr siblings, watch a movie, get to bed early and...and.....ah, who are we kidding, half the kids are on a overnight to Hershey, the rest are probably up all night at sleep overs, and who's up for wings at Main Event!!! Steve D get those practices scheduled, and let's get us some trophies, GO HAWKS!!!! :-)
Stat of the week - 192 runs for / 79 runs against - that's how you go 10-1 and win the District (thanks Steve O for the stats and, yes, that is a Niiiiice IPad).
