A true team effort lead to Plainview's 7-1 victory over Central Nassau in the District 32 championship game.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Sammy F scored following her triple down the left field line.

Central Nassau got the run back in the top of the second playing small ball to turn a hit-by-pitch into a run following a couple of ground outs.

Both teams went down quietly in the 3rd, but the Hawks put two runs on the board in the bottom of the 4th to take a 3-1 lead. Emily B and Joanna S got on base to start the inning. Rachael W pinch ran and eventually scored on a Bari D ground out. A base hit by Jamie Y plated Joanna. Jamie then stole second. A Jackie L ground out advanced Jamie to third and Jessica R drew a walk to give the Hawks runners at 2nd and 3rd with two outs. Only a terrific play by the Central Nassau shortstop to nip Victoria O prevented the Hawks from tacking on additional runs.

The Hawks broke the game open in the top of the 5th as Sammy F, Alexandra R, Emily B and Bari D each scored.

Victoria O retired the side 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th to secure the victory. Central Nassau gave it all they had with each batter in the inning hitting hard line drives which were snagged by Danielle B in right, Bari D at short and Sammy F at first. Through it all, centerfielder Hope R was there to back up every ball put in play and every throw.

The Hawks now move on to the Section 6 tournament where they will play the District 31 champions, North Shore LL from D36 and Williston Park LL from D28.
