10U Girls go 11-2

Submitted by steved on Mon, 08/16/2010 - 9:57am

Following their impressive Williamsport run, the 10U Girls went 11-2 in tournament play.

The girls went 7-0 in the East Meadow Summer Sizzle tournament and 4-2 in the Glen Cover Mayors Trophy tournament.

All season, they played what has become known as Relentless Hawks Softball, never giving up when they were behind and never giving away a game after being ahead.

Congratulations to all the girls!

Trailing 5-2 heading into the 6th inning, the 10U Girls staged a rally to tie and then defeat Central Nassau in extra innings.

The rally started with walks to Hope R and Danielle B and was completed by a 3-run home run off the bat of Rachael W.

Ace pitcher Victoria O held Nassau scoreless in the bottom of the 6th, striking out the side on 9 pitches.

Victoria O Throws Perfect Game

Plainview's Victoria O struck out all 12 batters she faced as the 10U Girls defeated Ozone Park Thursday night in a rule-shortened game. Victoria needed only 55 pitches to complete her perfect game going to a 3-ball count only once all game. It was a sight to behold!

10U Girls Williamsport Run Ends

Submitted by steved on Sun, 07/18/2010 - 4:48pm

The 10U Girls Williamsport run came to an end today with a loss to NBNM. The team got in a huge early hole and on a brutally hot day with seemingly every call going against them, they could easily have quit. In true Hawk spirit though, they never did quit and fought back like warriors. In the end, the team from NBNM was just too much for our Hawks. On to the Mayors Trophy and Summer Sizzle tournaments.

10U Girls Win District 32

Submitted by steved on Sun, 07/11/2010 - 6:34pm

A true team effort lead to Plainview's 7-1 victory over Central Nassau in the District 32 championship game.

The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Sammy F scored following her triple down the left field line.

Central Nassau got the run back in the top of the second playing small ball to turn a hit-by-pitch into a run following a couple of ground outs.

10U Softball - From the Stands

The tempature was about 400 degree's, the parents were breaking out the sunscreen at 6pm as we sat on the ultraviolet tanning bed also known as the vistor's stands (remember that one cloud, yep, that was great), but we didn't mind too much as we watched East Meadow learn that you gotta throw strikes against the Hawks or they will march around the bases (17 walks and 7 SB's).  Whereas 11 runs on just 3 hits is not quite a slugfest, it was a great win (as all wins are), and now we sit on the edge of making the District 32 finals!  Hopeful
