Silver Bullets Nip Golden Sluggers for AA Title
On a beautiful early summer evening at the Pool complex, the Silver Bullets nipped the regular season champion Golden Sluggers 12-11 to take the Boys Double AA playoff championship in an extra inning epic.
The teams battled back and forth all night with the pitchers dominating the early innings. The game was tied at 4 after 4 innings which were played in under an hour.
Sluggers Advance
The Sluggers and Team 8 met in the first round of the playoffs on Thursday and provided fans with an exciting game that stayed close throughout.
The Sluggers ace, John C. started off the game with 2 quick outs, but then Greg G beat out a single to get things going. After a single by Brandon M moved Greg to 3rd, Jason H knocked him in with another single and Team 8 was up 1-0.
Sluggers Clinch
The Golden Sluggers beat the Red Bulls 14-4 on a beautiful night under the lights to clinch first place for the regular season.
The home team Sluggers started their lefty ace, John C, and he didn't disappoint, as he pitched a perfect game over his 3 innings of work, while striking out 6.
Sluggers Take AA Regular Season Crown
Under the lights, on a beautiful Spring night, the Golden Sluggers lived up to their moniker and slugged their way to a 14-4 victory to clinch the Double AA regular season championship. Congratulations to Coach Bill, Coach Allan and all of the boys.
A Battle in the Heat
The Bullets and the Sluggers met each other on Wednesday night with first place on the line.
This much anticipated match-up lived up to the hype, as there was good pitching, timely hitting, good defense, and even some coaching moves that played into the outcome.
Sluggers Edge Fireballs
The Sluggers edged the Fireballs 3-2 on Saturday, May 22nd. That coupled with the Bullets beating the Lemon Protectors of Purple earlier in the day, sets up a battle for first place on Wednesday, May 26th.
Pirates and Sluggers Tie
The Pirates and Sluggers went neck and neck in their game on May 20th, ending in a 9-9 tie.
Pirates Blast Bulls
After a rough 2 game stretch, the Pirates exploded out of the gate with a 4 run first inning. Max L blasted the first pitch of the game to straightaway centerfield and scored when Dylan M lined the next pitch for a single. Ethan B followed with a single of his own. Red Bull shortstop Justin S slowed the rally with a sparkling catch of a Ryan S line drive. But Jack B, who continued his hot hitting, and Jimmy K each added hits to make the score 4-O after a half inning of play. Matt L and Josh C added run scoring hits later in the game as the Pirate slugging continued.
Pirates Hold off Fireballs
With strong pitching and a couple of timely hits the Pirates earned a big 3-2 victory over the Fireballs.
In the top of the first, Tyler M tripled off the fence for the Fireballs but Ethan B battled back with a big strikeout to strand the runner at 3rd base. In the bottom of the inning the Pirates took a 1-0 lead as Max L scored on an Ethan B groundout.
Sluggers and Vipers Battle
The Sluggers and Blue Vipers gave fans their money’s worth on a beautiful day for baseball on Saturday. The Sluggers struck first with a run in the bottom of the first as Matt M opened up the game with a double and scored as the Sluggers #2 hitter John C knocked him in with a clean single. It looked like the Sluggers might break it open right there in the first as they had the bases loaded with only one out, but the Blue Viper’s pitcher, Dean P. struck out the next 2 batters.
