The Grey Hawks played their hearts out, never lost confidence in the face of adversity, and while some teams may have been stacked with new players, bigger and better, Plainview stayed true to their summer roster plus two returnees, and displayed genuine team spirit, sportsmanship, and integrity.

Storm Hammers Hollywood---10U Grey Hammers Levittown

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 9:50pm

The 10U Grey Hawks hammered Levittown almost as hard as Sunday’s storm hammered Hollywood field. With a final score of 23-2 at the end of the fourth inning at 8 p.m., the game was conceded. Enjoying a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Max D. dazzled on the hill, striking out the first two batters he faced then getting the third out on a two strike 1-3 comebacker. He got the first out of the second inning on a fly ball to Eric K. at second base then walked the next hitter. Marcello fanned the final two hitters of the inning after one reached first on a throwing error.

10U Grey: To Tie or Not To Tie . . . That is the Question.

Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 07/24/2010 - 10:16pm

Usually one hears, “it was a tough loss,” not a “tough tie.” But a “tough tie” was exactly how it ended this afternoon for 10U Grey in Hicksville as the umpire was focused on the plate and missed the third out at second base. While the Hicksville dugout was jumping up and down in elation, thinking they had won in the bottom of the sixth, the call was being heatedly debated then reversed. A gentlemen’s agreement was reached to end the game tied at 6 rather than advance into extra innings in hundred degree weather on a sunny turf field.

Rinta Rocks! 10-U Grey Hawks End Legends 8-5 in Hicksville Tournament Opener

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 07/12/2010 - 8:12am

In his first-ever appearance on a mound anywhere in his life, Rinta hurled 80 pitches over 3.2 innings, allowing only two runs!  He teamed with John C. and Jake L. for a 1-3-2 double play in the first then stranded a man at third when Max D. caught a shot in left field.
