Storm Hammers Hollywood---10U Grey Hammers Levittown

Submitted by Moe on Tue, 07/27/2010 - 10:50pm

The 10U Grey Hawks hammered Levittown almost as hard as Sunday’s storm hammered Hollywood field. With a final score of 23-2 at the end of the fourth inning at 8 p.m., the game was conceded. Enjoying a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, Max D. dazzled on the hill, striking out the first two batters he faced then getting the third out on a two strike 1-3 comebacker. He got the first out of the second inning on a fly ball to Eric K. at second base then walked the next hitter. Marcello fanned the final two hitters of the inning after one reached first on a throwing error.

10U Grey: To Tie or Not To Tie . . . That is the Question.

Submitted by Moe on Sat, 07/24/2010 - 11:16pm

Usually one hears, “it was a tough loss,” not a “tough tie.” But a “tough tie” was exactly how it ended this afternoon for 10U Grey in Hicksville as the umpire was focused on the plate and missed the third out at second base. While the Hicksville dugout was jumping up and down in elation, thinking they had won in the bottom of the sixth, the call was being heatedly debated then reversed. A gentlemen’s agreement was reached to end the game tied at 6 rather than advance into extra innings in hundred degree weather on a sunny turf field.

Wasting no time, the Grey Hawks leapt right into action against Oceanside on Thursday night as Ira and Robby P. drew leadoff walks and Jake W. brought home Ira with a fielder’s choice.  With that one run lead John C. hurled a seamless first as Ira and Jake W. teamed for an 8-6 play at second after a single then John fanned the next two batters to end the inning.

11U Boys To Play in District Finale on Friday 7pm @ Pool

The Plainview Hawks 11U Williamsport team advanced to the district championship with a thrilling 1 – 0 win last night over arch rivals East Meadow.  Justin H. pitched a complete game shutout and ended the game by snaring a ground ball over his head and throwing the runner out at first.  The defensive gem of the game, however, goes to Tom F.

That's 3 in a Row for the 8U Hawks

The 8U Hawks traveled to play Central Nassau and won their third game in a row, 8-5.

All the boys played an important part in the win, whether it was on defense or at the bat.

8U Hawks bring their record to 3-3

Submitted by psica on Wed, 07/21/2010 - 10:56am

Playing in front of their hometown fans, for the first of four games in seven days, the 8U Hawks were able to win back to back games for the first time this summer.

Again, every boy on the team contributed to the victory.
